The Ancient Forest is about an hour's drive east of Prince George off Highway 16 where you will find some of Canada's biggest trees. It's like Jurassic Park - without the dinosaurs.

Learn about the history of our region at The Exploration Place museum at Fort George Park or at the Fraser-Fort George Railway Museum near Cottonwood Island Park. Go back in time and become a pioneer at Huble Homestead, relive the gold rush in Barkerville or join the fur trade at Fort St. James national historic site.

Cougars and Spruce Kings junior hockey, UNBC Timberwolves basketball and soccer, and senior lacrosse, fastball and baseball leagues give visitors many options to check out the local action.
Winery/brewery tours
Sip a glass of vintage berry wine made with care by Northern Estate Winery or tour the craft beer being brewed at Pacific Western Brewery, both located in the heart of the city near the banks of the Nechako River.
Jurassic Park, without the dinosaurs
Old-growth cedar and spruce trees blend with huge ferns and devil's club to create The Ancient Forest, a magical rainforest located a shortr drive east of the city. Don't miss it.

Come down and check out the fresh produce, wild game meat and crafty creations from local artisans, downtown in front of City Hall (spring and summer months) and on Third Avenue (outdoor and indoor).
